Info on Post-Op Care for Lasik Surgery

Having surgery is a very serious thing especially when it deals with the vital parts of a body. Having lasik surgery to fix or repair vision of the eyes can be very tricky to treat and monitor. The key is to follow the surgeon’s directions so as not to have repeat returns to the clinic or hospital where the lasik surgery was performed.

Using a lasik surgery clinic is commonplace these days and there are several patients coming in the morning and out in the afternoon. There are eye exams being performed there and based upon what the ophthalmologist finds surgery may be the best option.

After having the procedure done at a lasik surgery clinic, it is not advised by the doctor to drive or even to return to work immediately. There are lasik side effects that most people have after the procedure that won’t allow them to operate heavy machinery, go to another appointment right away after leaving this one or even cook due to the eyes still process still taking effect hours even days later; they must have a chance to settle in – the eyes must be allowed to recover from the surgery.

Before leaving the office payment has to be made. Lasik eye surgery cost may vary depending upon where it was performed, how much surgery was required and what kind. Every surgery is different and lasik is no different.

Remember that when the surgery is over there may be dizziness occurring and the eyes may become irritated.

The eyes may become painful and red; even swollen so the utmost care must be taken to keep hands out of them until they are completely healed and feeling better. The surgeon may prescribe some eye drops to help soothe the feeling of something in the eye or to allow for the natural tears to return to the ducts.

Staying on top of the issue until there is no further damage being reported regarding the eye is very important. Keep the eyes free dust and harmful chemicals is also very important and the surgeon will make sure that black sunglasses are used immediately after the surgery to take home. These are to be used, usually for a couple of days until the eyes can adjust again to certain lights like rays and sudden flashes like a camera uses. The more the regiment is followed, the faster the healing.

Ascertain Your Compatibility for Lasik Surgery

One subject that seems to be coming up in conversations within various social circles is lasik surgery compatibility. Laser surgery for vision correction, or also known as a lasik procedure, is performed on individuals that have problems with their version in some way.
Because lasik eye surgery cost has become more affordable over the last decade, millions of people have taken advantage of the procedure’s vision benefits and of the few lasik side effects. Eye surgery in general has not only become more affordable, but also more advanced, while at the same time achieving very high success rates.

A lasik surgery clinic can help you to correct your vision, by offering a number of different types of laser surgery options that when performed can rectify such vision problems as farsightedness and nearsightedness, or astigmatism. There are many common eye disorders that can now be corrected with modern laser eye surgery of today, that also include cataracts.

Cataracts are a very frustrating eye disorder that makes a person’s vision blurry due to a cloudy layer buildup within the crystalline lens of the eye. Taking into consideration lasik eye surgery cost and weighed against not treating this disorder, could lead to permanent blindness, if left untreated for too long.

The Cost of a Lasik procedure

Although millions have benefitted with lasik or laser eye surgery, there are still people who are unsure of the procedure, for a few reasons. For some, lasik is still a new procedure, and despite the cost of the surgery has come down considerably, the procedure still costs a few thousand dollars, especially if correcting vision in both eyes.

Do you have Lasik Surgery Compatibility?

Corrective laser surgery to improve vision is not appropriate for everyone. Interested persons should visit a lasik surgery clinic or specialized hospital to undergo particular eye exams and submit to tests before they can be considered for a lasik procedure. More serious eye disorders could prevent a person from being a candidate for a lasik procedure, due to the risk of complications both during the surgery and after. The percentage of individuals who undergo lasik compatibility tests and fail to become a candidate are few in number.
It is important for anyone considering a lasik procedure or laser eye surgery, to fully understand as much of the procedure as possible, before they make their final decision. Choosing an eye surgeon should be equally as important in making your final decision to have corrective eye surgery done, as it stands to reason, the more experienced the eye surgeon, the less risk or chance of any problems or side effects.

Has Anyone Heard of Dr. Chee Yew Wen?

Working at the club has really taken a toll on my health - specifically, the alcohol and the late work hours which totally upsets the body clock. Then there is that thick makeup that I have to put on everyday. I think it's a combination of all the above that has resulted in this acne breakout that I'm experiencing on my face.

I've tried a number of acne creams that I found in the local Guardian pharmacy, but it has only helped a little. I'm now thinking of going to a real dermatologist (found quite a number of them operating at Paragon in Orchard) and I've been doing some research on the Internet.

I stumbled upon this this page about Dr. Chee Yew Wen and he seems to be an expert on acne, although, he's not really a dermatologist but an aesthetics doctor. Based on the information on the page, he had severe acne problems himself, which was what inspired him to specialize into dermatology.

Alternatives to LASIK Surgery

While it is tough for some of us to think about the possibility of waking up each morning without having to reach for a pair of glasses or contact lenses, it has definitely become a reality. Thanks to safe alternatives to LASIK surgery, there is hope out there for people who want to regain the freedom of clear sight once again. Being able to see without the assistance of physical accessories allows many people to begin taking part in many different activities that they might have been avoiding due to significantly reduced vision.

There has been a medical breakthrough that is now sweeping the world by storm. This FDA-approved, non-surgical contact lens treatment can improve a patient's natural eyesight in just a few short hours and has been ruled to be completely safe for most people. This method is called Ortho-K. It works like a charm and many patients are reporting a definite improvement in their vision without the need for drugs or risky operations. After the first Ortho-K therapy session, nearsightedness and astigmatism are likely to improve significantly. These specially designed contacts are custom made to slowly and gently change the overall shape of your cornea, improving your eyesight in a safe and reliable manner. The shape of the cornea becomes altered thanks to the gentle "push" that the Ortho-K custom made contact lens applies to the area.

The therapy is completed in as little as a few days to several weeks. Ortho-K has been called the safest alternative to LASIK eye surgery currently on the market, as it is safe, requires no surgery and is completely reversible. Refractive error has everything to do with how your eye is able to focus incoming light to convert into a stable, solid image. This dictates whether or not you will have sound vision. The curvature of your cornea, combined with the power of your lens and eye-length all play a part in how your eye takes in visual stimuli. Ortho-K can correct these issues, providing you with a clarity of vision that might have only been possible through extensive surgery just a few short years ago.

Apart from this, a new breakthrough called Epilasik is also making its waves in the medical field. It is an enhanced form of LASIK surgery which allows people who previously were not qualified for a normal LASIK surgery to undergo vision correction. Epilasik have just been introduced in parts of Asia like Singapore and have been reporting successful surgeries since its introduction.

The marvels of modern science continue to help introduce new and innovative products each and every day. As technology begins to improve, less risky alternatives will continue to show themselves and poor eyesight or LASIK side effects could very well become a thing of the past. New, safer alternatives to LASIK are continuing development in medical laboratories all over the world and it will be interesting to see what scientists and inventors are able to come up with next. It seems as though they are already off to a great start with treatments like Ortho-K contact therapy.
